DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS,

As the 29th Olympic Games come to a close in Beijing, we congratulate our national and Caribbean teams on their splendid achievements over the past fortnight. Our athletes have made the region proud. May their successes contribute to discipline, self-sacrifice and solidarity in each nation and in the Caribbean as a whole.

Next weekend our liturgies will naturally focus on our country’s 46th anniversary of Independence. As a community of faith within this nation, we have a very important role to both celebrate the reality of the blessings which our people have received from God, and to challenge the entire community to be ever more faithful to the demands of our watchwords: Discipline, Production and Tolerance.
